Fiscal 2011 bring with it the creation of the 1099-K.  The IRS has created this form for reporting Merchant Card and Third-Party Payments made with your tax id (social security number or FEIN).

Now before you say this obviously is not me, what they are referring to is such things as EBay sales, PayPal transactions or Amazon Zshops; which more and more people are utilizing to dump unwanted items and make a bit of cash.  Well Uncle may want their fair share of your money.

There are stated limits, not requiring a 1099-K at least for now.  Gross sales of $20,000 a year or fewer than 200 transactions.  These are the current limits; as the federal government looks for more sources of income, I expect these levels to drop to garage sale numbers; especially after they get the system setup and running.
