The duality of man has always been a mystery to many and will continue to be for all time to come.  So it should not be a surprise that I have a couple of clients that have made the plunge into the business world, by starting side businesses.  They state that they want success, but their plunge into the world of business has been a tepid half step forward.  A mere touch of the waters of running a business, not in but alas not out.

Both have gone through the initial steps they set up their organizations.  Spent their money on the background of a business; for logo’s, domains and websites.  But, the taking that first true step of accepting or attracting that first client, we have the stall and disconnect.

Both have full time jobs and with one I cautioned that this would be an issue and that a pool of college workers to hand off the hands on duties would be in order were ignored.  The other has the product, but frets over the perfection of it all.

I am a firm believer that having a side business can be a good thing, but only if you are going to work it.  As with any endeavor you need to go forth with a plan and a zeal, all success has a cost that must be paid.
