I was meeting with a client today and as usual the conversation went into an odd direction. We got started on debit cards, now I am not a fan of debit cards. I dislike the fact that all you funds are at risk. I prefer using a credit card.
She on the other hand was a huge fan of debit cards because she preferred to keep a close track on her spending. I could probably learn from her example. But after talking to a common banker she switched to credit card usage.
Now that she is using a credit card she is using it differently than I use mine. She is using her credit card as closely as a debit card as possible. She is paying off her balance a couple times a week, so she never truly has a balance. Now I have never paid credit card interest, and pay off my cards every month. I have even made early payments. But I have to admit it never occurred to me to pay off the balance regularly.
I have to admit that this is a unique perspective that may well be a valuable recommendation to a couple of client, now and in the future.
