This year some of our clients have been taking longer to get us their information. This is not a good trend; we only have so much capacity beyond our existing monthly work. Not to mention this is when some of us take our vacations.
At the beginning of August, I sent all of the business clients an e-mail with a deadline of August 10th to ensure that their corporate returns would be filed timely.
A couple still have not gotten us their information as of this writing August 22. So there is a real chance that these clients will be a late filers and responsible for penalties and interest. Since the filing deadline is September 15th and I am gone until September 5th.
Unfortunately these clients also are not taking advantage of their financials as a management tool. They are able to assist in running the business if they are up to date and in order.
