We have all heard of the phrase “fake it till you make it”.  Since I am one who gets to peer behind the curtain, I am still occasionally surprised by those who still fake it.

One gentleman was recently bragging that since he was getting married he and his wife-to-be were out looking at houses.

I was a little surprised by this, granted he was not making great money but he was making decent money.  But living a frugal life and making some good decisions can get you opportunities.

I was then informed that he barely had a pot to piss-in and the bride’s mother was going to be paying the down payment on the house and paying for the full wedding.

On another occasion a business owner who was always talking about the last big contract that he finalized.  He was letting go of his rental space, he was selling a service, with an apparent team of salesmen all working remotely.  He stated that since no clients ever came into the office way expend the money unnecessarily and was moving the business into his home.

It turns out that his business could not afford the rent any longer and that the team of salesmen were not exclusive to his service.  They all sold multiple products and services to whomever they stumbled across.  The deals were not big enough to support the business.

I know a couple of more businesses that moved from offices into their homes.  SO I am curious as to the real reason of why they did this.  Because it is extremely difficult to meet clients in your home and be able to effectively discuss business.

Having worked from home earlier in my career, I felt I needed to move it out to handle the growth and take the business to the next level.

Have you made it or are you still faking it?
