I remember a 100 years ago when I was a kid plastic blow molded holiday decorations were everywhere.  Houses had lots of them, some more than others.  It seemed like stores always had huge quantities and options. Each year we put our blow mold snowman on our stoop in Chicago, he has fluorescent colors so it had to be purchase by the mid 1970’s. We still have him and put him in the window each year, he has holes in his feet from the bricks that were used to anchor him.

Each Christmas you could go secular or religious in great depth for either. It seemed most stores sold them.

Sometime when I wasn’t looking, they all disappeared.  About 20 years ago I was doing some early Christmas shopping and TRU had a blow mold ghost, it was on sale for $5, I picked it up on a whim.  My kids have recently told me we can’t have it outdoors, it will get stolen, they saw another copy of ours for sale for $150.

I have occasionally thought of this as a possible interest venture, but finding or replacing the molds would be the hardest part of relaunching this business.
