I had recently read an article that struck me for being so basic that most people probably don’t even think about it.

The basic function of running a business to generate a profit for the owner(s) period.  Businesses are not run for the governments benefit to generate jobs or generate taxes.  The purpose is to create money for the owner(s).

The way to create more jobs is allow the business to grow to create more potential profits and create a need for more workers and more capacity.  To generate the capacity money is spent on facilities, equipment, furniture, software and oh yes more people, so jobs.

If we could only get the politicians to stop saying that businesses need to get off the sidelines and create jobs.  It is not that simple.  There has to be a benefit for the risk being taken.

With the current taxes lined up for small businesses, I don’t see a return for the risk, so I don’t see the risk of expansion being planned.  So limited job opportunities.
