I was reading the article of the “Millionaire Cop Next Door” in Forbes. I had heard the news stories but it definitely hit home to see it in black and white (and read all over). Government workers now make more than 30% (average) than the private sector. This is before the pensions and benefits. When I was a child it was known that government pay was poor but it had a pension and decent benefits. Now it has it all plus more.
Wow, with the pay, the pensions and life long medical no wonder every level of government needs to raise taxes to pay for all of this.
Now, I have a wife and three kids that I am looking for cushy government jobs for each, I am looking for a measly $80,000 a year job for the wife. For the kids I will take a mere $60,000 each, but nothing too difficult. Full pension and guaranteed seniority a must. Benefits must be ample with a leniency for days off, the kids still need to finish school. But will do as much work as the current minimum standards require.
