According to the IRS you are probably wealthier than you believe.  If you have an Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) over $100,000 you are the affluent or rich.  Surprise and congratulations.

Adjusted Gross Income is on line 37 of form 1040 and line 4 of 1040 EZ.

If your AGI is over $113,018 (Tax Year 2007) you are in the top 10% of earners in the country.  Surprise and congratulations.  (this can be be two people $56,500 a year living paycheck to paycheck, with mtg, car and kids).

If your AGI is over $410,096 (Tax Year 2007) you are in the top 1% of earners in the country.  Surprise and congratulations. This is a more elite crowd, but the uber wealthy are not just the notorious CEO’s of the Fortune 100 most are small business owners working for themselves and their employees.

The median income is listed as $32,879.  So if this is the absolute middle wage for everyone in the US; are you the lower class, middle class or wealthy…

Surprise and Congratulations.
