You have no privacy, if you believe that you do you are mistaken. Major websites are using tracking software from a company called EPIC. This has been used to track people’s online activities using powerful new methods that are almost impossible for computer users to detect, new research shows.
These new techniques remain legal and reach beyond the traditional “cookie,” the small file that websites routinely install on users’ computers to help track their activities online. “Supercookies,” are capable of re-creating users’ profiles after people deleted regular cookies, according to researchers at Stanford University and University of California at Berkeley.
In the past websites and advertisers have faced strong criticism for collecting and selling personal data about computer users without their knowledge, but continue to do so regardless of your knowledge. Half-dozen privacy bills have been introduced on Capitol Hill this year. None will amount to anything; remember who gives them the campaign dollars. It is not you or I.
