Finally the feds are cracking down on emotional support animals on airplanes. Here is an example of a “good idea” turned bad.

In a new ruling, the Department of Transportation defines a service animal as a dog that is individually trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of a person with a disability.

It will no longer consider cats, snakes, rabbits, birds, miniature horses or any other noncanine critter as a service animal.

Airlines are still free to set their own rules regarding which animals are allowed in the cabin. Expect airlines to place strict limits, or outright bans, on emotional support animals.
