What are the ethics of asking for help when you know that you will never hire that person to work for you?
I know that this has happened to me. I know/knew a person who always seemed to seek me out to get my opinion on a topic about every other time I saw them. Now I was told the both owners hated their CPA, but would not consider switching to another. When asked why, they had no answer. It ultimately got to the point that I actively avoided this person.
I have been made aware of a situation where a client of mine has been assisting someone. My client is working on the assumption that this assistance would be rewarded with the requestor becoming a new client.
I have been informed that this will not be the case by another party. So I am left to ponder the ethics of requesting assistance from someone when they are just being used and abused by someone for their own benefit, leading the other party on.
