I have a client that was flabbergasted by the response from a candidate for a newly crated CEO position.

As a small company looking for future growth they pulled together a package that was modest in the beginning but became much more generous as the position succeeds.

The candidate expressed an extreme amount of greed after receiving the initial proposal.

According to the clients the candidate wanted double the base that was offered; 25% of all of the company’s profits now and moving forward.  He also needed a minimum of a month’s vacation annually.  All of which was delivered in a rude manner.

I had met the candidate and when I questioned him on his salary requirements to minimize the waste of my time as well as my clients, the candidate stated that he was looking for a challenge and that since there were no monetary needs.  He wanted a challenge.

So he wasted all of our time and he is still unemployed.  Maybe it was worth it to him, the free meal for his time.  I disagree, but I value my time.
