How do you warn people on a speeding train that is it headed straight towards a wall, and the engineer and conductor have protected only themselves?
That is how I feel about Pritzker and Madigan and their approach toward taxes and fees. Apparently, I am not the only one who feels this way.
I have read and am sharing a perfectly written article on the Wall Street Journal website: https://www.wsj.com/articles/illinois-does-a-connecticut-11559601920?shareToken=st434cc751fac54e5c9a370bbe70c029bc&reflink=article_email_share
The powers that are in charge of Illinois are seemingly positioning themselves into the old parody of “tax and spend” Democrats. Nowhere in the new budget is there and attempt to rein in spending or cost cutting.
I have clients who are actively moving themselves and their businesses out of the state. This is not general grousing; it is real and will be tragic for those poor saps who remain in Illinois. I will be one of these poor saps! Since my properties and the vast majority of my clients are in Illinois for now, so I can’t move. I would still have Nexus.
I hope the people on the train vote against this referendum. But my guess is that most believe the bullshit that there will be no extra charges to them, beyond the increases in gas taxes, license plate fees and property taxes…
