I am not sure why, but there seems to be a number of articles in various publications about how to run and act in meetings.

Some have been ridiculously basic and at least one had some interesting ideas, or at least ones I agree with.

The funny thing is I have a client that seems to do the exact opposite of the article recommendations that I agree with.

The articles state to meet in the morning; this group meets at 5:00 and drags on for hours.  They of course feed the attendees dinner, which adds to the time.

The article states to meet in a small room, to have as few attendees as possible and have natural light.  The client invites multitudes for a huge room that is in a basement.

As it usually goes, someone can write an article and claim to be an expert.  But businesses need to do what is in their best interests, and meet when it makes the most sense for the attendees.
