Effective for payments made after December 31, 2011, businesses are required to issue to all businesses with payment aggregating $600 or more in the calendar year to a single payee.

This will include the phone company, the gas company, your landlord, electric company, Office Depot and any other company you deal with.

This also means that your company will be receiving all sorts of new 1099’s that will need to be added to your tax returns.  Congratulations to your CPA/Accountant they now have quadruple(or more) the data input.
