My son was asking me about getting where I get work done on my dress shoes.  From what I have observed and read Millennials are breed to look at recycling and refurbishing things, so his interest was not a complete surprise.  Whereas other generations tend to dispose of items rather than refurbish the items.

Now my son asked because he knows that I have had shoes recrafted. I typically have my Allen Edmond shoes recrafted when necessary, until they won’t do it any longer.  When I needed Florsheim’s resoled I needed to find a reliable cobbler.  There are not many still in business, but I also wanted a referral which I received from a client.

I am not sure whether my son followed up on the cobbler, but I did get to tell him the story about my father having his boots resoled so many times that the cobbler informed him that this would be the last time her could do it based upon underlying structure that he has had to work with was depleted.

So I guess I like the idea of the family tradition continuing to refurbish until we have to buy new.
