In a discussion with a new client, we talked about the necessary skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur.
To me the most important requirement for entrepreneurship is to be a self-starter. My client countered that motivation was a greater driver. I argued that most people have the motivation to start a business and be an entrepreneur, but you have to be able to get yourself up and into gear and start moving. Motivation alone will not do it.
You also need to be organized and have leadership skills to assist in identifying the short- and long-term goals. Granted I have seen unorganized people succeed, I believe it took longer to succeed since they placed roadblocks in the own way to slow progress.
All of these skills are necessary skills to succeed, but you also need to follow through. If you are a motivated self-starter who is organized with defined goals; congratulations, but if you never follow through on projects you are doomed to fail.
If you have the motivation but are lacking some of the other skills, we may be able to assist, give us a call to find out.
