I was invited to be a guest at a BNI meeting and another CPA stated that he was meeting with clients to changes to their planning strategies based upon the swirling rumors and hearsay.

I was astounded by this.  I had just been interviewed by a reporter from the Daily Herald on this exact same issue.

In good conscience I work with my clients with the current laws of the land.  We may spend some time discussing bill proposals that are currently in the House or the Senate.  But never would I plan based on speeches of a President Elect.

He has not taken office, the House and the Senate are both in for changes, those changes of people and their personal interests in tax law changes are yet to be known completely.  So the shape of the tax laws in their preliminary form have yet to get into committee, let alone be in shape to hit the floor.

The current hearsay is different for the plan that the House Republicans had in place to move forward.

So I will stick to what is known for planning and make adjustments when the process is further along.
