This year was a prosperous one for us. We picked up a number of new tax clients. One of which stood out from the others. He was working for a company making a reasonable salary and the spouse had a small business that is winding down.
But what made them stand out was the fact that they had an extremely impressive dividend portfolio. Especially when you look at where they were coming from, these are not former highly paid executives.
Yet their dividend portfolio was in the lower level of the mid five figures range.
I have always stressed to clients the need for a diversified investment portfolio. This was one where I had to congratulate the client. I am jealous, mine is nowhere near as impressive.
