Now that the election is over and all the liberals are complaining, there continues to be talk of moving out of the US.

One if you can find a country that will take you.  It is not as easy to setup a household in another country as you may believe.  The US may have some quirks in its system, but it appears to be far easier than most other countries.  Unless you are fleeing Syria, then the EU is taking anyone.

But let’s say you move to another country.  Are you giving up your citizenship?  If not, don’t forget that you need to still file and pay income taxes.  Even if none of the money was made in the USA.

It does not matter if you are there because your employer sent you or you consider yourself a political exile.  You owe Uncle paperwork and coinage.

Before the October filing deadline we had a call from a young woman who needed her parents tax returns done so she could file her FASFA and go to college.  The parent sold everything a few years before and left the country.

I still don’t know why the daughter was left behind or where and how she survived, but that is not my concern.

She wanted to hire us to do her parents tax returns.  But she had not authority to do so, nor did she have any of their information.  Unfortunately we were unable to assist her.

My guess is she is not going to be in college in January.

So unless you give up your citizenship, remember you need to file your income taxes timely!
