I meet an investor that only believed in investing in real estate only around colleges and universities. He knew that with these locations he would always have people interested in renting his properties.

This made all the sense in the world to me so to see an article suggesting that real estate investors to not overlook student housing when considering where to allocate your capital, was surprising.

Apparently rents for student apartments rose by 3% on average in 2017and are expected to continue to show decent gains moving forward. But local markets vary widely.

Large metro areas with lots of graduate students are expected to see higher rent growth as openings for skilled jobs rise. Universities also tend to boost rents for all apartments in the area.
