What is your businesses growth plan?  In the recent months I have had two different sources state that they believed I was on a conservative growth plan.  Granted they did not use those words, but that was their meaning.

At one meeting my friend who is on my Board of Advisors, admitted that he would be looking to buy a business in a couple of years and when secured would implement an explosive growth plan.  Depending on the business he would utilize the internet beyond the website; using ad words, click bait and banner ads.  Then utilize the traditional methods contacting current clients, past clients and cold calling or potential clients.  Not to mention unleashing a sales force to do site visits and knock on doors.

Most of these things I do not believe would work in my business but does work in the manufacturing world.

Service oriented businesses work better through a referral network, getting warm leads on business actually looking for a change.  Most businesses are not always looking to replace their CPA, nor individuals their financial advisors.  Lawyers are necessary from time to time, but not always.  Therefore cold calling or some of the other aggressive marketing tactics would be a waste of time for service industries.

Where does your business fit into these thoughts?
