I was giving a client a difficult time because they had hired an employee for whom they did not do a background check on.  The employee did not work out well, and there were some minor issues.

When I asked what their hiring policy was, they stated that they did not have one; thus the reason I gave them a difficult time.  I strongly recommended that they do a basic background check at least on the next one.

So they listened, before offering a candidate the job, they did a background check.  They were horrified with what they found and passed on the candidate.  Their business has certain regulatory guidelines that are suggested.  This person could not pass them.

I was told that my suggestion had helped them to make the right hire.
