There has been a lot of talk in the media about the difficulties of finding employees.

One of the main problems in finding qualified employees is turning out to be drug addiction.  Surprise drug addiction is apparently widespread.

Because of this up to 25% of job applicants fail drug tests, according to some staffing agencies

In the past I have encouraged clients to run background checks on potential employee.  I may now need to recommend that they drug test potential employees, especially with these kinds of stats.

So there is one more hurdle in the path of finding good employee, beyond the knowledge, skill and ability to show up for work on time.

I suggest having a plan and procedures in place for a hiring process from start to after probation.
