China has been building up its military. At present its navy is the world’s largest,
by number of warships, enabling increasingly aggressive maritime posturing
in the East and South China seas and the Taiwan Strait.
Unfortunately, the US did not prosper in this buildup.
In the 1700 and 1800’s Britain has the world’s largest navy. The US had after WWII until we gave up and let China take over.
Granted most believe that the next world war will take place mostly on computers. But I would be more encouraged if we were still the largest navy, in case we needed to move troops and give them protection while they landed.
