We have had a number of clients upset because they don’t qualify for the Illinois Senior Freeze.

As we know HOUSEHOLD income cannot be over $65,000.  Now this is not taxable income or adjusted gross income.  This is all income; most seniors have a portion of Social Security that may not be taxable.  The whole of SS must be counted.

Also, if you have kids living with you or grandkids, or possibly both, all of their income has to be added to get to Household income total.

Think about it medical insurance (supplemental) costs roughly $6,000, property taxes without the freeze are probably $10,000, federal taxes about $3 to $5K.  this is all before basic living expenses in the Chicago Metro area, $65,000 is not a lot of money to maintain a house(hold).

Cook County is a bottomless money pit and they demand high property taxes and everywhere else…
