On a long drive to a client, I was listening to NPR and they had a group discussing the value of a college degree, was it still worth the expense and time.
One of the voices mentioned that the Department of Education has website that compares each college by Graduation Rate, Average Cost and Median earnings of graduates.
https://collegescorecard.ed.gov/ is the address. I have to admit, this was the first time I had heard of this website. Had I known about this tool I would have shown it to my kids when they were in High School.
My kids did not want my assistance in picking out their school nor their degrees. I tried to get them to talk to others, but they were stubborn and knew everything already…
I just looked up their colleges and mine. Mine has better rankings, yet it costs more. My kids were also surprised when I explained to them that there was money for their college education. But doing it themselves, they were able to squeeze out better scholarships and deals, then I probably would have been able to. They thought they were spending their money.
How does your college stack up?
