I have a client where I deal with the manager and not the owner. It is my understanding that the manager will eventually take over as owner, but after a number of years it had not happened just yet.
The PPP forgiveness was a problem. The owner applied for the loans with his personal e-mail, but did not save copies of the documents. So they did not have the SBA loan number, nor the banks PPP loan number. Since the manager is not a signer most of the data was out of his grasp. So it took weeks to gather the information to apply for the forgiveness.
Another issue has been getting a Power of Attorney on file for various issues.
I know that turn-key operations are supposed to be easy and profitable. But I have never seen that as a reality. The owner has to be at least somewhat active in the business. It is their money on the line.
