I had an unusual request from the son-in-law of a client, they wanted copies of the client’s tax returns for the last couple of years.
We followed up with the client regarding the request. We were initially concerned that the client might not be aware of the actions.
So, I meet with the client who is elderly (fit and alert 90’s). I expressed my concerns regarding the situation. The daughter and husband were looking to get a HELOC on the mother’s property.
Talking to a client, I found out she was paying all of the bills for her adult child and spouse. The child is 72 and has been living off of mother for years, husband gets no SS because he never paid in, she is still working part time. They live in the mother’s house and mother pays all bills including credit cards.
We never stop worrying and caring for our children.
