I was again reading articles and found another one about colleges, but this one had several points which I could agree with.  To that extent I go a bit farther in my opinions.

The article writer stated that he believes “that college is about learning how to learn, stepping out of your comfort zone, learning how to lead, and making an experience that is truly unique to you”. I agree with this completely.

He went on to state that “what you study in college doesn’t need to define your career”.  I again agree.  I believe that Accounting should not be a college major, I believe that it should be an apprentice program instead without the need for the formal education.  But against I have written that teaching accounting should involve more that just theory and most colleges and universities have professional educators teaching accounting with no practical industry experience.

Most technical skills are ultimately teachable; it is more important that new hires know themselves and are full individuals with communication skills, the ability to think critically, and problem solve. Not to mention the lack of fear of failure, jump into problems with no idea how to solve them when given the chance.  See if you can solve the problem, failure helps learning.
