I have to admit that the concept of a “ghost job” is a new concept for me.  I am known to take a cynical view on life and business, but to piss away funds advertising jobs that don’t exist is not a good business practice in my mind.

Yet, I read that in a recent survey of more than 700 recruiters in the U.S., conducted by MyPerfectResume, revealed that shockingly, 81% of recruiters post ghost job adverts. (A ghost job advert is one that is fake because the employer is either scoping for a talent pool and potential interest for the future, or the role is already filled but still shows an active hiring presence on the recruitment page and job boards.)When the weighting of these fake job adverts is calculated, it shows that approximately 36% of jobs posted online—more than a third—are actually not real vacancies.

One thing this tells me is that HR departments are overstaffed, and funds are being wasted on unnecessary HR personnel.  If they are wasting corporate resources by pretending to look busy.
