Were you aware that during the current crisis that a gold run that occurred? It seems that all the major vendors of gold coins have been sold-out of all their inventory. They were completely out of stock.
It seems that gold still holds the same place in people minds today, that it has for the last 2000 or so years.
Now how you would use gold to purchase goods or services? I would imagine it would be extremely difficult. Say you want to buy toilet paper, you give up a gold coin, how would you get change? It’s not like you could break off a piece and give that in payment.
If society does crumble to the level, of paying for goods and services with precious metals, you become a target if people know you have gold, with all the rules of the “Thunderdome”. Unless you have your own people to protect and defend.
But I doubt we are going to be close to that any time soon. Except maybe in Michigan…
