I was watching the WGN 6 at 6, and they had a quick topic on the 7 types of money languages. Now I was surprised that I was unfamiliar with money languages to begin with, let alone 7. So, I started looking into this and found that 7 was not the only or the necessarily correct number.
Here’s a clearer breakdown of the main models and what each focuses on:

Based on core spending and saving behaviors:
- Spender: Enjoys using money for comfort, experiences, or generosity.
- Giver: Finds fulfillment in helping others financially.
- Investor: Values growth and long-term planning.
- Saver: Feels secure by conserving resources and controlling spending.
5 Money Languages (Christine Luken)
Centers on emotional motivations and financial habits:
- The Planner: Seeks control and structure through budgeting.
- The Worrier: Feels anxiety and fear about financial stability.
- The Seeker: Enjoys financial excitement, opportunities, and risks.
- The Believer: Views money through a lens of faith or trust in abundance.
- The Tracker: Focuses on data, precision, and monitoring spending.
7 Money Languages (Recent Research)
Explores financial psychology and mindset patterns:
- Scarcity Mindset: Fear of not having enough.

I don’t know if that “languages” would be the term I would use. Actually, I would definitely not use languages. I would use personality types.
I am and have been aware of these personality types, forever. Just not the term “languages” in regard to them.
I prefer the 5 types, best. But I fit all five types, constantly. As I feel most business owners to as well.
