I have to say, I get my motivated to accomplish some tasks done in the oddest ways.

I have had a client pass earlier this year and their spouse had been handed a mess.  There was no will or trust in place.  There was property in three states. To make matter more difficult, the properties were in land trusts that were never updated after deceased parent’s past on…

Stocks were held in certificate form and not all can be located, there were no reasonable records readily available and statements from any account ever owned were in 50 separate boxes.

We were pulled in to assist with the process.  Luckily for the spouse this occurred in 2021 and not 2020, the courts are slow, but they are open and working…

So, with this situation in mind I have finished my initial draft of my trust, I will finish the will by the end of the year.  Once done I will get to my attorney to review.

But I have my wife listed as a signer on most accounts at this point, I have prepared a roadmap on the businesses and laid out multiple options on how to address.  The family knows who to call to start the life insurance process.  Then there are my associates to assist with keeping everything moving forward.

Seeing the misfortune and pain others have gone through was a great motivation to make sure my family does not need to go through this as well.

What do you have in place?
