You own your own business and make a decent living. Could you sell your business if you wanted to? Of do you actually own a job with client(s) who would leave if you thought about selling?
I know a number of franchises are really built around owning a job and sometimes not even a well-paying one at that.
Chick-fil a has you making a down-payment and coordinating the set-up of the business only to truly be buying a job. You do not own the franchise; you cannot sell anything other than sandwiches. Subway is another franchise that, most owners are buying a job.
Some of my peers had their business constructed as if they owned a job, and when they retired, they told their client they needed to find someone else to do their taxes.
Is your business set up where you own a job or a business?
