Post Retirement Navigator was a piece of software originally designed by Phil Lubinski and developed by All America, sold to one firm and then another only to wither and die.

I loved the concept of this software  for retirement planning and investing. While you are retired you will need access to your funds to finance your retirement spending. PRN puts your funds into buckets where you determine what rate of return you believe you can get on those funds.

You determine the time phase for each bucket, 3 to 6 years for the first, these are monies you will use in the next 1 to 3 years.  It has a low rate of return since it can have little risk.

The next bucket would have a higher rate, say the rates of current bonds for 5 years.

The next bucket would be a higher rate for its 5 years, and so on. There were usually 5 buckets, each investment strategy would be determined by the time and expected return.

It worked very well the output was in multiple forms, graphs and numbers.  The investment strategy was defined in the recommendation summary.

The software no longer exists, but I will be using this concept with my retirement plan. But I work with a financial advisor that still plans this way.
