Social Darwinism is the theory that individuals, groups, and peoples are subject to the same Darwinian laws of natural selection as plants and animals. While now largely discredited, social Darwinism was advocated by Herbert Spencer and others in the late 19th and early 20th centuries and was used to justify political conservatism, imperialism, and racism and to discourage intervention and reform.

While the times are different there are those who are looking at the current situation and the current business environment, will be survival of the fittest. Some are, talking about this in terms of social Darwinism.

I have seen people and businesses excel and thrive, not because they were better or smarter or had better connections than anyone else.  They literally happened to be in the right place at the right time.  Several clients have told me this is what happened to them, when they got into their line of business.

There is the old saying that “it is better to be lucky than smart in this world”.   What do you believe?  I think lucky, I know brilliant people who have failed with their businesses.
