Have you ever wondered why the 3 Musketeers bars is called what it is?  I remember that name as odd when I was an idiot child.  I saw Athos, Porthos and Aramis on the label and left it at that. D’artagnan was the 4th Musketeer.  The Musketeer names I found out later.

I recently found out that there is a real story as to why the name is the name.

The 3 Musketeers candy bar was invented in 1932 in the United States by MARS. It was the third candy bar produced by the company. It was originally packaged as three, individual mini bars of chocolate, vanilla and strawberry nougat; hence the name, 3 Musketeers.

Time and wars shrunk the bar to a single chocolate nougat bar.  But the name stayed the same.

So what is in a name?
