The first thing I think of when immigrants are mentioned, are field hands harvesting crops slowly by hand. I know a stereotype.

We are aware that many industries depend on immigrants, granted in many cases to fill low-skill positions; immigrants account for roughly a third of the hotel and accommodations workforce. They also make up 22% of workers in food service.

Immigrants actually hold a disproportionate share of jobs in science, technology, engineering and math occupations. They also account for over half of STEM workers with a Ph.D.

America truly needs educational reform, we need to spend more money and develop those students who have scientific and mathematics aptitudes, for when America is not the place to go to be at the top of your field.

So now my image of immigrants is behind a microscope, the new stereotype.
