When the next crisis hits America will still have a big challenges ahead of us. But apparently there are at least there are some promising developments.

It only took a few weeks or at the time a blink of the eyes, before our already depleted strategic national stockpile of personal protective equipment ran out completely last spring. This was due to an overreliance on China.  Which still continues to be a particular problem.

Many U.S. manufacturers are planning to diversify their supply chains, assuming this is a possibility for their industries. But other countries have their own issues. While global pandemics shut down most international trading.

Congress will likely have to do more to increase support of domestic manufacturing. especially of critical supplies, such as surgical and N95 face masks. It will require funding and likely new legislation.  Because 3M did not hit the mark.
